Leaving Orkut Behind, Google Makes Successful Tools Into Social Experiences

Google's social network Orkut has never been popular outside of Brazil. Yet, instead of trying its hands again at another social website, Google has decided to make its regular tools become social vehicles. Tools such as a profile page, friends list, and the ability to share photos using Picasa are becoming the central momentum for a full decentralized social network owned in operated by Google using services already in use by millions.
