Google has introduced a new feature for Youtube--encrypted HTTPS videos. This is Google's secure counterpart to their regular HTTP videos. HTTPS encryption is going to become more of a focus for Youtube/Google products.
This feature is great for websites already running with the HTTPS encryption. Rather than receiving the browser warning for having both secure and non-secure content, Youtube videos will now be more accessible and not provoke such browser warnings. This new feature will be a great benefit for eCommerce websites that need video alongside secure content.
Making the switch to secure videos is simple. Just change the embed code from https:// to https://.
Https adds a barrier of protection surrounding the information traveling between your computer and a web server.
Websites that use HTTPS and HTTP content together will generate a “mixed content” warning. If a Youtube video isn’t embedded with HTTPS then not all parts on the website will be secure and this message will display.
