Search Engine Land reported that Google may be dropping directories from search listings. In a WebmasterWorld forum, website owners and designers have been complaining that a large amount of web directories are no where to be seen. It appears that free web directories have suffered the worst.
Terry Van Horne began to conduct tests to see if this was true. He found that of the 500+ web directories that he tested as high as 16% were missing from the search results within Google. Barry Schwartz, the author of the Search Engine Land article Did Google Drop 100+ Small Directories? wrote to Google but did not receive a response regarding the missing directories.
