This way to exit Google's vertical search services

Google has recently created an exit option for it's vertical search services, such as Google Shopping, Google Flights or Google+ Local.

It sounds like a strange, new innovation for the search giant, but the new capability was launched as part of its settlement agreement in 2013 with the US Federal Trade Commission over anti-trust concerns. The new tool is aimed at web publishers, and the tool can be found inside the Google Webmaster website.

The tool will enable web publishers and website owners to remove their property from the following search services:

  • Google Shopping
  • Google+ Local
  • Google Flights
  • Google Hotels
  • Google Advisor (financial product search)

All of the services above are paid solutions, and the removal solution will help to delete all data associated with the services that could build up over time. Unfortunately the tool deletes all data from all the above services, and it does not allow for specifying which service and which data.
