Smart mobile device users are addicted to Facebook and other apps over surfing

Mobile and tablet users with Android and iOS devices spend an average of 2 hours and 38 minutes per day on their devices. A new report by Flurry Analytics, Flurry Five-Year Report: It’s an App World. The Web Just Lives in It, discusses the impact of smartphones and tablets on consumer lifestyles and the opportunities that this change has ushered in for businesses.

Of the time that users spend connected to the Internet on their mobile devices, 80% of that time (2 hours and 7 minutes) is with apps and the remaining 20% (31 minutes) is spent on the mobile web via a browser.

Breakdown of time spent on the mobile web versus apps

Gaming apps remain the largest category in this report of mobile usage. Facebook is the second largest with 18%. Safari is in 3rd place with 12%.
